D-Link, the end-to-end computer networking solutions provider for consumers and businesses, is now positioned amongst the top industry vendors for Wireless LAN solution, by global leading analyst and research firm, Gartner, Inc.

According to Gartner, D-Link obtained the lead position in worldwide Wireless LAN stand-alone access point unit shipments for medium and large sized enterprises in 2009 and has been placed in the Niche Players Quadrant in Gartner’s latest published Magic Quadrant for Wireless LAN infrastructure.

In this report D-Link obtained top position in the medium and large sized enterprise for unit shipments with a 26.1% market share and also successfully held the top spot in the small enterprise market in 2009 for Wireless LAN stand-alone access point unit shipments with a 37.2% market share.

“D-Link has not only solidified a strong lead in the shipment of WLAN stand-alone access points, but has also continued to show its strong growth and leadership in the business solutions market year over year,” said Mr Desmond Toh, Marketing Director, D-Link International Pte Ltd.

“We are excited about D-Link being included in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Wireless LAN infrastructure. We believe this is a testament to our continued commitment to delivering a comprehensive, innovative portfolio of Wireless LAN solutions as part of out complete end-to-end solutions offerings which also include switching, storage, security and surveillance,” Mr Toh added.

D-Link is looking to aggressively win over the business enterprise market in 2010. To achieve this, D-Link looks to enhance its channel recruiting and training this year to further strengthen its business sales through the company’s growing network of value-added resellers, solution providers, distributors and retailers. D-Link also plans to leverage its strength in the switching business and to look into cross-selling opportunities, such as the integration of IP surveillance to further its footprint in business enterprise market.

D-Link International, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of network products, has announced the launch of its first 802.11n wireless LAN solution designed specifically for large or enterprise corporations. Providing secure and manageable dual band wireless LAN options to these business environments, and boasting a Plenum-Rated chassis that is designed to adhere to building regulations, the DAP-2590 features selectable dual band functionality for 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless connectivity, drastically increasing the flexibility of this durable device.

“The DAP-2590′s compatibility to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz makes it a highly flexible wireless option for corporations to adopt,” said Desmond Toh, marketing director, D-Link International Pte Ltd. “This flexibility allows corporations to meet with the demands of the fast moving broadband environment, while ensuring backward compatibility to earlier wireless standards. Because it is housed in a Plenum-Rated metal chassis and adheres to strict building regulations, the DAP-2590 is ideal for placing in air passageways, to extend wireless coverage. Thanks to integrated Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, the DAP-2590 can also be installed in areas where power outlets are not readily available.”

Flexible wireless network in either 2.4GHz or 5GHz
Featuring three detachable dual band antennas, the DAP-2590 allows network administrators to deploy a highly manageable and extremely robust dual band wireless network in either 2.4GHz (IEEE 802.11g and Draft N technology) or 5GHz (IEEE 802.11a and Draft N technology) bands. With a reliable wireless performance with maximum wireless signal rates of up to 300Mbps in either band, coupled with support for Wi-Fi multimedia (WMM) Quality of Service feature, the DAP-2590 is also an ideal access point for handling demanding audio, video and voice applications. Load controlling features ensures maximum performance by limiting the maximum number of users per access point, optimizing high network traffic volume and redundancy for fail-safe wireless connectivity.

Network Access Protection for defining client access
Network Access Protection (NAP), a key feature of Windows Server 2008, is also supported by the DAP-2590. This allows network administrators to define multiple levels of network access based on an individual client’s need. If a client is identified outside of their access area, the client will be automatically brought back to their permitted network access level.

The DAP-2590 features both Personal and Enterprise versions of WPA and WPA2 with support for RADIUS server backend to help maintain a secure wireless network. MAC Address Filtering, Wireless LAN segmentation, Disable SSID Broadcast, Rogue AP Detection and Wireless Broadcast Scheduling secure and provide added protection to the network.

To enhance the segmentation of network users, the DAP-2590 supports up to eight virtual LANs for implementing multiple SSID. It also includes a wireless client isolation mechanism, which limits direct client-to-client communication.

Multiple Operation Modes
To maximize total return on investment, the DAP-2590 can be configured to optimize network performance based on any of its multiple operation modes such as Access Point, Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with Access Point, WDS/Bridge (No AP Broadcasting) and Wireless Client. With WDS support, network administrators can set up to eight DAP-2590 devices throughout a facility and configure them to bridge with one another while also providing network access to individual clients. Additionally, the DAP-2590 offers Spanning Tree Protocol support for greater efficiency and to avoid broadcast storms when used in WDS mode.
