D-Link International, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of network products, has expanded its leadership in the development of energy-saving networking products and initiatives with the introduction of the D-Link Green 16-port Managed Gigabit Switch DGS-3200-16.

A pioneer in green networking solutions, D-Link’s Green Technology automatically detects a device’s link status and reduces the power usage of ports that are not linking, enabling the DGS-3200-16 to save up to 14.28% of power usage without sacrificing network performance.

Silent operation for reduced noise and energy consumption

The DGS-3200-16 features a smart fan that comes equipped with heat sensors, and intelligently switches off when the system operation temperature reaches 35 degrees to reduce noise pollution and energy consumption. Advanced security features include host-based 802.1x authentication/authorization, clientless Web-based Access Control (WAC) and MAC-based Access Control (MAC) for easy deployment. Access Control List (ACL) user-defined functionality secures the network against viruses and worms while innovative IP-MAC-Port Binding prevents spoofing by recognizing malicious users who falsify their IP or MAC address. Other security features include port security and traffic segmentation for better control in business environments and enhanced network security.

D-Link’s Green initiatives include a new website, www.dlinkgreen.com which provides detailed information of D-Link’s Green Technology and its environmentally friendly network solutions. D-Link has also instituted a program to which all of its Green solution must comply before being labeled D-Link Green. To qualify, products must incorporate D-Link’s energy-saving technology, comply with green initiatives such as WEEE, RoHS and ENERGY STAR, and use eco-friendly sustainable packaging such as sleeveless design and soy ink.
